Jackson Hole, Wyo.-A skier who injured a leg after he went out of bounds of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort on Monday was airlifted by helicopter from the scene of the accident and transported to St. John’s Medical Center.

The skier, whose name was not released by authorities on Tuesday, was identified as a 24-year-old Teton County man.

At about 1 p.m. Monday, Teton County Search and Rescue personnel became aware of the injured skier, who was in the Four Pines area to the south of the resort, according to Sheriff’s Dept. spokesman Scott Terry.

Terry said Jackson Hole ski patrollers were the first responders on the scene.
The skier was airlifted to the southeast corner of the Ranch parking lot, where an ambulance stood by to transport him to St. John’s, Terry said, reading from the dispatcher’s notes.

A call to a St. John’s spokesperson to check the condition of the patient was not immediately returned Tuesday, although it is believed his injuries were limited to a fractured leg and were not life-threatening.
